FAQ's

DIRECTIONS

Ranchita Margharita is conveniently located 10 miles outside of Warner Springs in San Diego County in the quiet town of Ranchita off of Hwy 79 at 27949 Old Mine Road, Warner Springs, CA 92066. Click HERE to see a map of the property.

TRAIL ACCESS

For equestrians/OHV's/hikers, there are trails on BLM land just steps from the property. All trails are marked and fairly well maintained. Low trails are shaded with sand/dirt; higher trails are more hilly/steep, exposed and can get rocky. During the wetter months you will find a few small water crossings. BLM trails are accessible only from a private road, so trails are not heavily trafficked. You could ride the whole day and not run into anyone.

The staging area for the Pacific Crest Trail to Eagle Rock is just 2 miles away. This is for equestrians and hikers ONLY. Trails are not heavily trafficked. Click HERE to see a map to the trail head.

BEST TIME TO VISIT

All year! The fall and spring will guarantee nicer weather. The wetter months will provide more chances of water crossings on trail. Winter has a chance of getting a dusting of snow. Summer is hot, but perfect for morning or evening rides. The adobe rooms help keep rooms cool during summer and warm during winter.

DAY RIDES

Day use of the facility is welcomed for trail rides, hikers or off-roading. Please check the calendar for availability. If 4 or more rooms are booked, we kindly ask you to visit another day. Guests wishing to bring OHV's, please try to come when the facility is completely available, as motorized vehicles can scare horses. The day use fee can be given to the care taker. The pool is available to take a quick dip in before heading out. However, overnight guests get priority.

OVERNIGHT HORSE CAMPING

Ranchita is a great place to overnight horse camp. You will have a bed to sleep in, a shower to clean off in, a pool to swim in, a hot tub to soak in, plenty of stalls and water for your horses, and great trail options right from the property or a short drive away.

DOGS
Dogs are welcome and allowed to sleep/stay in rooms. Any damage to room(s) caused by your animals will be asked to be paid for.

DIRT ROADS

You will travel just under half-a-mile down Old Mine Road, a well maintained dirt road. Ranchita Margharita will be on your right. All other roads are paved.

KITCHEN

The kitchen--located in the Lodge, the first building on your right--is fully functional with a fridge, freezer, stove, oven, pots, pans, dishes and utensils available for your use. There is a coffee pot and microwave. Please clean up after yourself. The Lodge has 2 tables, couches and a wood burning fireplace for you to enjoy. The front door to the Lodge faces the rooms.

FIREPLACES
All fireplaces are wood burning (no gas). Every chimney has been cleaned. Please make sure the flue is open before lighting a fire. You will need to bring your own wood to burn. Do not clean out the fireplace, the ashes can stay hot for days and disposal is not required. IMPORTANT: if you are not familiar with lighting a wood burning fire, you may run the risk of smoking out your room. Please ask the caretaker for help or google the proper way to light a fire. We recommend bringing a duraflame log to get it started, then add wood.

TELEVISION & WIFI

The only TV is located in the Lodge with access to Netflix and USB input (for video games or dvd player). Wifi is available for free. The username and password will be sent to you upon booking your stay.
